Mindful Collage with Char Breshgold: Let's Go Inside

MINDFUL COLLAGE

Let's Go Inside!

Join me for an afternoon of creative exploration!

This workshop is for anyone interested in more deeply exploring collage or discovering it for the first time. We will work with a wide assortment of colored and textured art papers, scraps of paintings, old book pages, and personal items you choose to add. Collage allows for spontaneous and layered work that can be beautiful, personally meaningful and is fun and easy to do. I will provide cues to help us focus and get started and materials for inspiration. I also share ideas about my process, examples of styles of collage and design concepts to help form your pieces.

Friday, October 25th, 1:30-4:30pm

About Char Breshgold

I have been a working and exhibiting artist for 40 years. I paint, often from photos, using my art to tell stories. I love to incorporate collage in handmade books and multi-layered paintings.

As a longtime meditator I find awareness of my breath to be very helpful in creating art. I was a member of The Girl Artists, a collaborative group whose archives have recently been acquired by The Smithsonian Archives of American Art. My first published pieces of hybrid writing and painting will be in Prism, International in August 2024.

What previous students shared…

“The vibe you created helped keep my inevitable self-judgement at bay.”

“Wonderful support and sharing of work and ideas”

“Great, inspiring atmosphere!”

From the Belly of the Mishkan: Art and Performative Poetry An immersive Sukkot experience

Join us for an unforgettable evening of interactive art, poetry, and celebration in honor of Sukkot! The evening will begin with a short, spirit-filled musical Sukkot service, setting the tone for an event filled with creativity, meaning, and community connection.

Local Jewish artist Diane Fredgant will unveil her stunning and immersive Modern Mishkan—a room-sized homage to the Torah’s Mishkan, featuring layers of hand-painted silk where the Etz Chaim (Tree of Life) and the commandments, in both Hebrew and English, embrace the participant within a chuppah and two giant Torah scrolls.

Performative poet and storyteller Brian Rohr will bring his words to life from the entrance of the Mishkan as he reads from his newly released collection, Shaken to My Bones: A Poetic Midrash on the Torah—a powerful, creative exploration of ancient stories.

Following this, Diane and Brian will share the inspiration behind their work and answer your questions. Free admission. All Ages. Light hors d'oeuvres.

NEW BEGINNINGS ~ Ushering in the New Year through Art & Writing

NEW BEGINNINGS ~ Ushering in the New Year through Art & Writing

We invite you to join us for an afternoon in creative community as we pass through the

High Holidays and enter deeper into the autumn season. As we begin this new cycle, we

will consider these questions through engaging in a reflective art-making and creative

writing process: What threads do you want to pick up from last year and weave into this

new year? What are you ready to let go of to make space for new growth? What do you

want to cultivate in this year ahead? We will explore these themes of renewal and

regeneration through creating mixed media art on circular canvases, incorporating

painting, drawing, collage, and creative writing into our finished pieces. Our completed

work can serve as a touchstone as we navigate the year ahead. No previous writing or art

experience necessary, all are welcome. All art materials will be provided.

Cost: $75/Person. Register here
