Rescue of the Danish Jews, One Family's Story

  • Eastside Jewish Commons 2420 Northeast Sandy Boulevard Portland, OR, 97232 United States (map)

Ray Zuschlag tells the story of his grand-uncle Master Baker Georg Ibsen and his family during the war years in Denmark. The Ibsen family hid Danish Jews and members of the underground in their bakery and thwarted the gestapo again and again helping to rescue the Jews from the Nazis. It's a hopeful tale of quiet heroism and escape.
