Join us for our free concert series with top Portland musicians! Pack a lunch or stop by one of the many pods at 24th and Glisan, bring your food in (no pork or shellfish please) and come and hear the music! The concerts feature small ensembles and soloists that are semi-acoustic and always enlivening. The EJC welcomes seniors, parents and kids, students, and all others. Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, Eddie Parente has played in a Mexican Mariachi Band, studied Classical Indian Music with tabla master Shashi Nayak, and played in international folk dance bands. He is best known for his jazz stylings playing everything from Gypsy Jazz to Swing to Ellington. Some of his past and present associations include Portland State University Symphony Orchestra and Cascade Symphony Orchestra where he serves as Principal Violinist.
Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Grant Green and John Coltrane at an early age; Ben Graves has developed a style blended with not only jazz elements, but Latin, classical and world music as well. He has studied, shared the stage, and toured with national and internationally known artists including Rick Zunigar (Stevie Wonder), Tony Dumas, Leon Russell, Dick Berk and Charles McPherson.
