CIRCUS ON THE STREETS, an EJC Yiddish Month event!
Sarah Stein takes her audience back to the bustling streets and colorful characters of the famous Lower East Side of New York City during the 1930's and 40's as seen through the eyes of her family. In this vibrant and nostalgic memoir Sarah Stein shares her experiences growing up in the streets, the adventure of trips to Coney Island and the joy of the children's favorite radio programs. The performance is an inspiring blend of laughter and grace as Sarah shows how, with their humor and cunning, Jewish immigrants and their children made the best of the hard times and found their home in the “Circus on the Streets”.
