Sing songs from the Highland cultures of Peru and Bolivia, accompanied by panpipes, at the next Portland FolkMusic Society global folksong workshop,
The workshop is led by Lynette Yetter, a Portland resident who spends three months a year in South America learning and playing this music and participating in processions and festivals related to it. She will teach the songs and accompany them on the siku, or Andean panpipes.
The songs will be in Spanish with a few Quechua and Aymara words. Participants will receive handouts with the music and lyrics. No prior musical or language knowledge is required.
