About Bettie Denny

Since retiring from 25 years in broadcast television, Bettie Denny has written three books. In the Wake of Madness: My Family’s Escape from the Nazis is now on the shelves of the Jewish Museums of Berlin and Frankfurt, the Leo Baeck Institute in New York, the Hague, and, of course, Multnomah County Public Library. Currently, she is blogging about her recent trip to Germany. Her previous book, Burying My Dead, is historical fiction set in 1870s Portland. Originally from New York, her working years were spent in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2006, Bettie and her husband, Pat, adopted Portland as her home. Their two daughters and three grandchildren live nearby.
