What's better than craft beer? Beer craft night! The Eastside Jewish Commons will have growlers of some of Portland's best craft beer. Come purchase a glass to enjoy, while your kiddos participate in a curated crafting activity.
Two-tiered admission: For the more serious crafters Leila Wice will be leading kids in creating a chanukah oil-lamp. For the more casual crafters EJC staff members will be present to help kids with crafts and cleanup while parents relax, sip, and schmooze.
Details:
Tier 1 Admission: $20/child *(workshop):
Make an oil lamp for Chanukah! For children ages 6-17. Registration required. Maximum of 12 participants (EJC may add another teacher and workshop if first workshop is filled. If filled, email ericstern@ejcpdx.org to be put on waiting list)
Help your children appreciate the miracle of light with creations of their own. Each participant will make a clay oil lamp, which will be taken to a kiln and then returned to the EJC in time to pick up and use for Chanukah. Leila Wice has taught spinning, knitting, and Japanese language and history to students aged 5 to 85. She has loved fire since she was a wee one, and is convinced that Hashem is a potter. As part of Shir Tikvah and as a member of the first Art/Lab cohort, she has begun to consider the EJC a home away from home. She is also the founder of Mikveh Gathering, an ongoing workshop of t’vilah (immersion) in the wild. Covid safety: All participants must be fully vaccinated, and also boosted if they can be. Masks will be worn during the class. Feel free to contact the instructor in advance with any access needs.
*No one turned away for lack of funds. Please let us know if cost is a barrier to participation.
Tier 2 Admission: $5/Child (casual crafting)
EJC staffers and volunteers will be on-hand while your kiddos collage, craft, and color (we'll provide supplies). Kids can take home their creations at the end of the night.
Parents, feel free to hang out with your kids while they craft or with each other to talk about grown-up stuff!
Adult Admission $6 (price does not include beer)
